The 2010-11 Blue-T Youth Wrestling season began on Oct.10, with a tournament at Webster Broadcasting and Digital Media Magnet High School. Blue-T wrestling is a youth wrestling program open to ages 4 to 15.
The past season was filled with accomplishments and awards, Blue-T President Bobby Lasater said, adding that this year should be more of the same.
Lasater said there is a difference between the current Blue-T program and the programs of the past. “Commitment to winning is the biggest difference,” he said.
“Just in the past two years we won two team national championships and 13 individual national championships. We totally rebuilt the program. We have grown from a few novice wrestlers and a couple open wrestlers to over 70 open wrestlers.”
At their first annual Blue-T Open Tournament, 45 of 58 wrestlers placed, Lasater said. Now that they have the youth wrestling going strong, they will be starting up Blue-T football and baseball with the same commitment to winning, he added.
Lasater said to check out BlueTpanthers.com for a complete list of the program’s accomplishments.
