The 2010-11 wrestling season has just begun! Webster Broadcasting and Digital Media Magnet High School is really looking forward to bringing the tradition back. There are two returning wrestlers this year and 12 athletes who are new to wrestling. There are several athletes out for practice that have never wrestled before.
Coach Rob Biggins, Webster’s head wrestling coach said, “There are about five or six experienced, former varsity wrestlers who are walking the halls at Webster and they haven’t come out to support their team or their school yet.”
Coach Biggins said, “I expect that we will have a tough season this year, but I also expect that we will win some matches. We will have the type of season that will make Webster proud.” He added that he believes this is a rebuilding year. He said that in his first year he is just getting to know the wrestlers and they are getting to know him.
Coach Biggins said, “As we are rebuilding, we really don’t have any rivalries yet. We absolutely want to beat every team that we face.”
The future looks bright for the Webster’s wrestling squad. “We have just started the Westside Warriors wrestling club. It is for the Clinton Middle School students, and we have approximately 30 wrestlers participating. So, I promise you that Webster Wrestling tradition will be returning!” Coach Biggins said.
